The Canada Infrastructure Bank (CIB) is providing US$1.15 Billion (C$1.16 Billion) in financing to the Montreal Port Authority (MPA) for the development of the new Contrecoeur container terminal, one of the largest port expansion projects in Canadian history.

Located approximately 40 kilometers northeast of Montreal, the terminal is expected to add up to 1.15 million TEUs of annual container capacity to Canada's Eastern Trade Gateway, strengthening the country's trade infrastructure and supporting the expansion of non-U.S. exports.

The project brings together significant public and orivate investment, including US$93.68 million (C$130 million) from the Government of Quebec and US$108.09 million (C$150 million) from Transport Canada, with more than 85% of total infrastructure costs expected to be supported by private-sector revenues.

Commercial operations are targeted for 2030, with the project expected to generate more than U$540.48 million (C$750 million) in annual economic benefits and support jobs across Canada's supply chain.
