Chery Completes Acquisition of Nissan's South African Manufacturing Plant

Chery Automobile has completed the acquisition of Nissan South Africa's vehicle assembly plant in Rosslyn, Pretoria, together with the nearby stamping facility, marking the Chinese automaker's entry into vehicle manufacturing in South Africa. Production is expected to commence in mid-2027 following the installation of new manufacturing equipment, with annual production capacity proected to reach 50,000 vehicles on a single-shift basis.
Chery will retain the plant's 692 existing employees and plans to create approximately 3,000 additional direct and indirect jobs through expanded manufacturing and supply chain activities. The acquisition supports Chery's strategy of establishing South Africa as a regional manufacturing hub while increasing local component sourcing and strengthening the country's automotive industry.
