CIBC Provides Acquisition Financing for Shah Trading's Purchase of Compass Food

CIBC has completed two financing transactions supporting Shah Trading Co. Ltd's acquisition of Compass Food Sales Company Limited, a leading Canadian supplier of dried fruits and nuts, together with related entities. The financing also provides for the working capital requirements of the acquired businesses and involved multi-jurisdictional sceurity arrangements across Ontario, Quebec and Alberta.

Founded in 1974, Compass supplies dried fruits, nuts and private-label products to retail, industrial and foodservice customers across Canada and the United States. Shah Trading, also established in 1974, is a major North American importer, manufacturer and distributor of rice, grains, spices, nuts and dried fruits.
