Globacom completed a multi-year lease of a 5MHz spectrum block in the 1800MHz band covering 35 states and the FCT to support 4G LTE network expansion.
The multi-year spectrum lease transaction involves a 5MHz Frequency Division Duplex (FDD) block in the 1800MHz band, in a deal aimed at accelerating nationwide network expansion.
The agreement, which covers 35 states and the Federal Capital Territory, represents a significant enhancement of the operator’s spectrum capacity and forms a critical part of its 4G LTE rollout strategy. Activation of the leased spectrum commenced in December 2025, enabling improved coverage, network quality, and data speeds across key markets.
The 1800MHz band remains one of the most commercially important spectrum bands for mobile operators, widely deployed for 4G LTE services due to its balance between coverage and capacity. The transaction is therefore expected to strengthen the operator’s ability to meet rising demand for data services while improving overall network performance.
