The Government of Canada has succesfully completed its sixth Canadian-dollar-denominated green bond issuance, raising US$1.44 Billion (C$2 Billion) through a new 10-year green bond. Completed on February 10, 2026, the issuance brings the Government of Canada's total green bond issuances since its inaugural offering in March 2022 to US$12.61 billion (C$17.5 billion).
The transaction reinforces Canada's role in the development of sustainable finance markets, providing investors with access to high-quality environmental, social and governance (ESG) assets backed by Canada's AAA credit rating.
Government green bonds also provide an important sovereign benchmark for the broader Canadian sustainable finance market. The transaction was undertaken as part of Canada's continued efforts to support sustainable investment and strengthen the depth and credibility of its domestic green bond market.
