JEM Secures Final Trade Duties on Steel Strapping Imports from China and Turkiye

JEM Strapping Systems Inc., a Canadain-owned manufacturer based in Ontario and the country's sole remaining producer of steel strapping, has secured final anti-dumping and countervailing duties following proceedings before the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and the Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT).

The investigation addressed imports of steel strapping from China and Turkiye that were found to have been dumped and subsidized, placing significant pressure on Canada's domestic steel strapping industry. Following succesful advocacy on JEM's behalf, duties raning from 13.5% to 54.4% were imposed on imports from China, while imports from Turkiye are subject to a 47.9% duty.

The measures provide important protection for Canada's steel strapping sector for the next five years, supporting the continued viability of domestic manufacturing and helping safeguard a critical industrial supply chain.
