Mulilo Achieves Financial Close on Orkney Solar PV Project

Mulilo has achieved financial close on the Orkney Solar PV Facility, a 219 MWDC solar project with a contracted export capacity of 150MWAC in South Africa's North West Province.

Developed under a long-term power purchase agreement with Etana Energy, the project will supply approximately 478 GWh of renewable electricity annually to commercial and industrial customers across the country. Once operational, the facility is expected to power around 210,000 households while avoiding more than 500,000 tonnes of CO2-equivalent emissions each year. Designed to be battery energy storage system (BESS)ready, the project also supports future grid flexibility and renewable integration.

The transaction marks another significant step in Mulilo's strategy to deliver 1GW of new generation capacity annually, reinforcing private-sector investment in South Africa's energy transition and improving long-term energy security.
