The 20MW Tsamela Solar Project has reached financial close, becoming the first project under the Eswatini Electricity Regulatory Authority's First Tranche Solar PV Procurement Programme to achieve this milestone. Located in the Hhohho region, the project will supply power to the Eswatini Electricity Company under a 25-year power purchase agreement.

Developed by Anthem Group, with the Public Service Pension Fund as as strategic partner and financing from Standard Bank Eswatini and Standard Bank South Africa, the project is expected to strengthen Eswatini's energy security by reducing reliance on electricity imports. Once operational, the facility is projected to generate nearly 47,800 MWh of electricity in its first year and create approximately 150 construction jobs.

Together with Anthem's Lower Maguduza Hydropower Project, Tsamela is expected to contribute more than 30% of Eswatini's domestic electricity generation capacity.
